The immigration bill?

Why is it that the peolpe in the house and senate do not feel they are responsible for the immgration problem? 99% of the capital hill misfits have been there for years and allowed this problem to snowball. Why are we not demanding what is best for our legal citizens and demanding that it gets done? Thi sis what happens when silver spoons are allowed to run the country

Answer:
Bingo!!
They are responsible, but they'll never admit it.
We are demanding they do what's best...no amnesty, enforce current laws, build the fence.
Problem is..many refuse to listen to us.
Unfortunately, unless you see a BIG increase in politically aware Americans.that will be the way of things for a long while.
True. The problem has gotten out of hand and now they are trying to clean it up with their silver spoons.
Silver spoons have been running the country for a long time.
Someone has to pay for the silver spoons.
We can still vote...lets let them know who we think is responsible.
I can't believe you take this issue seriously! Americans have been making fun of me for 7 years, I'm pissed off. I just want to give them amnesty to show that I like them more than Americans.
Because THEY don't have the cajones to ride an MV , much less stand up and walk the walk that they talked!! ..( almost ranted..)

...whats up dude.
Isn't that what they were elected to do and took an oath of office?
What I hate the most is the lie the politicos are telling the American people. These people come here to do jobs that Americans won't do! I have friends that feed their families doing these jobs (construction, landscaping, vegetable picking, etc.) yet our elected officials are working hard to push this. This is simply an excuse to turn hard-working jobs into a form of slavery. It's like the whole company store set-up that miner's etc. had to deal with in the 1800s. Either way, Americans (especially minorities) should be watching this closely. Who do you think will be hurt the worst by this influx? The answer is simple, the poor (especially those of African decent). But then again, you never hear that on the news. If this defacto "amnesty" is passed, expect your benefits to be sliced or gone altogether. By the way, I emailed all of my elected officials locally, statewide, in the House and Senate, and George W. Bush (even though I'm certain he ignored it).
Here's why... He says we are a nation of immigrants, and not admitting they have been looking the other way so more undocumented illegals enter into the country. He says that they are in the shadows do to exploitation by unscrupulous employers, while our representatives still looked the other way and did not go after those employers. He says it's broken, rather than they didn't fund it to enforce the 1986 reform bill properly. He spews so much BS in this response I am still cleaning it up off computer screen, and my floor.

Isn't America a nation of legal immigrants? I know this for a fact. And because the 1986 reform bill granted amnesty to millions of illegals at that time... it has since then become a nation of immigrants who gave way to illegals the first time, and wants to do this again this time. WTF??

Dear

Thank you for contacting me about immigration reform. This is a complex issue, with many important aspects, and it requires a comprehensive solution. 12 million undocumented workers are currently living in the United States. They are working, paying taxes, and raising children who are U.S. citizens. They contribute to our economy, and it is time to bring them out of the shadows and end their unfair exploitation by unscrupulous employers in communities across the country.

Funds for border enforcement have increased dramatically over the years. The budget for the Border Patrol has increased from $263 million in 1990 to $1.6 billion today - a six-fold increase. Yet during this period, hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants have entered the U.S. each year. Our immigration system is broken, and it is clear that border enforcement alone will not fix it.

After long and thorough negotiations with the White House and fellow Senators, Republican and Democrat, we have developed a comprehensive immigration reform bill. The bill strengthens border security by increasing the number of border agents, building a border fence, using new technologies to monitor and enforce the border, and imposing higher penalties for workplaces that employ undocumented immigrants. The bill also contains a temporary worker program to help American businesses meet their employment. It addresses the millions of undocumented immigrants living in the United States by providing a means to obtain legal status after undergoing background checks, paying a fine, and going to the back of the line for greencards.

The bill is a realistic and comprehensive solution that will not only protect our borders, but also enable needed temporary workers to enter the country legally, and allow workers already here to earn legal status. It has already been discussed in the Senate once, and despite some setbacks, I hope we will be able to bring it back before the Senate for further debate and passage.

By heritage and history, America is a nation of immigrants, and we must preserve this tradition. Making necessary changes in our immigration laws will ensure that immigrant families today, as in the past, can continue to live the American dream and contribute to our prosperity, our security, and our values.

Again, thank you for writing to me about this important issue.

Sincerely,
Edward M. Kennedy
