In some of our Public Schools Spanish is a required course, brought about by the increase of Illegal Immigration.
And I don't think its right that almost all consumer products are in Spanish & English, You call A business you get the Spanish or English prompt, our State & FedGovt. sends documents to us in both English & Spanish, Signs are posted all over the U.S. printed in English & Spanish.
When People immigrated here from other lands, they conformed and learn the English Language, we did not conform to them and do for them, what we have been doing for the Mexican Immigrants, (regardless of their status)
I totally see the frustration that is going on here. And if I was from Mexican lineage I would be insulted not proud, After all it makes it seem like they are too stupid to learn English.
But by having all this dual labeling does prove 1 thing, THERE ARE TOO MANY DAMN ILLEGAL ALIENS IN THE U.S.!
I hope your question has been answered, it all has to do with their inability, to learn the English language. They don't know how to adapt to the U.S. like all the other immigrants. The proof is in some of the answers you received.

Really now? And your ancestors didn't IMPOSE upon the Native Americans? Last time I checked they rounded them up & herded them off like cattle down the Trail of Tears to reservations where they still live today. How are they IMPOSING? We are accomodating them for a reason...they are helping to BOOST our economy. All those little jobs that NO PROUD AMERICAN will take...cause it's so much easier for them to DRAIN our welfare system...are being taken on by a large part of the Hispanic population. Regardless...how is that hurting you, exactly?? Come to Minnesota. We have a huge Hispanic population here. And thank GOD for that! If it weren't for them, many of our factories would not have the workforce to produce. So think about that next time you crack open a can of Green Giant corn to chomp on.

We don't. Your businesses just understand that we will shop at businesses that speak in our language.
We hispanics grow up with the idea that English is for public and Spanish is for private. So, when some politician or retail commercial begins speaking to us in our language, we listen.
The newer arrivals have been hurt by this, and will be held back because they are unable to speak English. Their kids will also be held back. I am glad my father learned English because it made it that much easier for me with someone as an example.

I have never heard of that. Hispanics are asking that classes should be taught in spanish for the kids in school. What the deal is with Hispanics is that speaking English should not be mandatory also. There are some small towns in America that require signs to ALL BE IN ENGLISH. They want to move the illegal aliens out.
Now schools are starting to have bilingual classes, where white kids even are learning spanish. And the parents do not mind.
ROFL I completely agree. Every time I call a support center I have to press 1 for English. Why is it so terrible to expect everyone who immigrates to America to have a grasp of the English language? My grandparents immigrate here from the Philippines in their 20s. My grandfather was fluent in English and my grandmother had a firm grasp of it and took classes BEFORE coming here. While they are proud of their culture they also CELEBRATE the American culture. That's why they came here. They came to America for what it is, not what they could sue, protest, and try to change it into.
I agree with you! Did you know that to participate on a Jury you need to know English...end of story...and you can get excused if you don't know it? Not that I don't agree with the Jury thing, but it goes to show you that English is indeed our national language already, and that it needs to be proved OFFICIALLY by the people that we have put in office.

No demands of learning Spanish, it is what it is. I prefer English and think it should be the language of choice. Demanding and imposing ones culture is evident more these days. Thou jests too much in a quest for an easy answer. Our voice has fallen on deaf ears in congress and our representatives do not listen to mortals.. only money.
I really don"t think they want to impose there way of living on us our government has made it so easy for them they are taking advantage of us. We should not make new laws to help the illegal they don"t respect the ones we have now
