After how long can I apply for naturalization?

I am living and working in the UK. I have a UK Settlement Visa (Indefinite leave to enter the UK) valid till 06-04-08.

I would be grate if someone could please let me know the following queries;

1.Do I need to extend this visa after 06-04-08?
2.After how long would I be eligible to apply for naturalization?
3.When can I apply for a British passport?
I would be very grateful if you could please also let me if there is any web site where I can get such information.

Answer:
You misunderstand the terms of your visa, Sayed. Apply to the Home Office for Indefinite Leave to Enter one month before your current leave to enter ends ie before 6/4/08 (if you have completed the full two year "probabtionary period" as the spouse of a British Citizen). Look through this website for pertinent info on this:

Hi there.first of all how have you got your settlement visa?on what basis as it would be different for each scenario.If as you say you have indefinite leave to remain,you wouldn't have an expiry date on it?!if you can clarify these,then we can see the options.
I know that the governments policies and procedures can be a bit confusing but there is a hot line you can call. you can find the phone # at this web site. www.uscis.gov
I've tried to find an answer on the internet . the best I can do is direct you to

nationalityenquiries@ind.homeo...

they should be able to answer all your queries.
Indefinite Leave to Remain would have no expiry date, and no need for extension. You could apply for naturalisation and a UK passport after five years legal residence in the UK, of which the last year would have to be with Indefinite Leave. You need to pass a pointless and stupid "life in the UK" test. If you entered as the spouse of a UK citizen, perhaps having been married and living together for a number of years outside the UK, you only need to complete three years' residence.

Leave to Enter is granted either on arrival or by application to a British embassy before travel. I can only guess that the time limit refers to the time by which you should have exercised your right to enter. Generally speaking, "leave to enter" and "leave to remain" amount to the same thing once you are in the UK.

I'm afraid my knowledge of these things gets increasingly hazy at this point! Frisky will give you more info later. Otherwise contact a Citizens Advice Bureau, Law Centre, or solicitor.

Hope this helps!
