Why did illegal immigration become a problem only after FEMA no longer needed them for hurricane Katrina?

Answer:
Immigration became a problem when there are no jobs for the illegals and the government is running out funds for welfare.
Not true at all. Do a search for Reagan's amnesty deal. Our border has been a disaster for a very long time.
Man, if we all can't agree that both parties are double-teaming us with the illegal immigration sex toy.....
I'm curious what region of the country you are from. Having lived in the region affected, I can tell you that FEMA had a problem then too. Contractors where prolific and it was very hard to make sure that you weren't being ripped off but at the same time, builders were losing contracts because they couldn't afford to pay their american workers the same low wages that some other less scrupulous contractors could.
IT WAS A PROBLEM LONG BEFORE THAT AND SAVE THE FEMA CRAP WE ALL KNOW THEY SUCK AS WELL AS ILLEGALS
Bush needed to creat a diversion, lol...Believe me New Orleans need the them, illegal or not
what rock did you just crawl out from under........... this has been ongoing for a long long time.........it is jsut doing a snowball effect .........longer it goes thelarger it gets .........and who wants to stop it ........oh_hell
Illegal immigration has been a problem for years. Katrina didn't have a thing to do with it. People have known and have seen the issues for years. The little trip to the streets just made it an actual visable thing that people couldn't "ignore" any longer. All the hatred and signs and false statements made people realize that what they saw and experienced was actually true and there wasn't any denying it anymore. It wasn't a "border" issue anymore. All the demands and hate made the picture crystal clear. All the people in those most hard hit areas have been screaming for years. But it's destroyed entire communities way beyond the border and people finally started saying ENOUGH!
It took the news focus off the horrid job the government was doing in the wake of Katrina.
Illegal immigration was a problem years upon years before Hurricane Katrina hit. You just were not paying attention.
Illegal immigration is not only a problem, it is illegal. No illegal immigrants were solicted to work at any time by FEMA. The contractors that tried to use them to save money usually got caught, fined and made it very expensive for the honest hardworking insured business to get the work. We pay alot of money to get registered to work in these areas, to include all details and legal documentation of each employee we hire. Before you start complaining, make sure you are complaining about something that is realistic. By the way, did you do any work or volunteer any service, deed or anything else? We are still in need you know or did you think it was over when the immigrants moved to another area to work? All immigrants are not illegal just because you see them on a construction site. In fact, there are many Mexican owned construction companies now, legally. I have to give them credit, they are doing a lot better than my little company.
