There are mainly two reasons that our slimy politicians are dodging their responsibilities on this issue.
The first is that they are responding favorably to U.S. companies who exploit the illegals.
The second is that they are currying favor with the Mexican government and other entities who are heavily involved in NAFTA.
Is Specter's "rule of law" in contrast to the laws that have already been enacted and go unenforced???

I think Arlen Specter is jockeying for political position, don't be surprised if you see him vying for a VP spot or a presidential run in a few years. I've been watching him for a long time. Afterall, he was one of the ones who backed the mayor and the new laws in Hazleton. He's trying to stack his deck, and be on both sides of the fence at once. I used to be a big fan of his, but he's starting to play the Washington game a little too much.
Edit: No, I don't think it would restore the law. Heck, we had amnesty & reform in the 80's, and look where we are now. They can write all the laws they want, if they aren't enforced they won't do a lick of good.

Well there is no law right now.the illegals get to work not pay taxes and tax our schools and government assistant programs and take loans and grants from our college people.so I say anything is better than doing nothing!!
I'm not for amnesty. it is not fair to the people who are trying to come here legally. why should the illegals get a free ticket in front of the line? it's sending a negative message to the rest of the world about Americans. and we wonder why other country's get piss'z at America and want to harm us. this is one of the reasons. i don't care if I'm the last person standing, i will not change my mind.

Yeah, I heard the traitor. How can you restore the rule of law when you haven't enforced the laws that are on the books right now and when you tell American Citizens that it is unreasonable to expect that the government can round up 12-20 million illegal immigrants, let alone deport them? I think the USA will be at Civil war before the end of the year. I know that myself and most people I know will distance ourselves from all illegal immigrants, especially Mexicans and will be working toward complete and total independence from anything purchased from illegals, foreigners and those who hire, harbor and help them. We've already established some coops and we're working on raising enough money to finance mortgages for our members and provide banking services as well as food, clothing, shelter and other goods. We have computer programmers and green people who are helping us to set up electrical grids, water purification systems and even sewage treatment plants and wireless phone systems on private property so that we can isolate ourselves from the lawbreakers. We are encouraging law-abiding U.S. Citizen Teenagers to have as many babies as they can so that we can counter the illegal population. We are encouraging all our citizens to take self-defense classes and to get firearms owners' identification cards and stock up on the stuff they'll need to protect their property from the illegal immigrant invasion. We will do our best to comply with all laws except the discrimination laws because discrimination is being practiced against the U.S. Citizens.
It will restore the ILLUSION of the rule of law alright by making illegal immigration legal.

So what are your options ?? Deport 12 million people all of a sudden ? In reality thats not possible !! They may deport some but not all of them ICE cant just take it !! its more than they can handle.
The best option its give them a path to legalize their situation !!
cause that way the country would be more secure, if they give them a choice to legalization Im sure theres gon be a background check and tons of stuffs so real criminals wont have that benefit. So people will have licenses, car insurance, cause I dont think its safe having people drive with none of that stuffs, they will also be able to report a crime they see which they dont do now because of fear.
Legalize those people its the best the goverment can do !
