Ok..I'm a bit confused and need some help understanding this. From what I underestand, the Hmong helped out in the Vietnam War with the US and they seem to be a culture that really don't have anywhere to live. Now, from my understanding, countries like United States, Australia, and a few other countries allowed them to come to there country to live. Why is it that these refugees are deported back to the country they lived in and awaiting prosecution?? Why don't they let them go and live there lives? What is the problem?
Answer:
First of all, the Hmong do have a place to live. The Hmong society had lived in the mountains of Vietnam, Laos and China for over 1,000 years or more.
The prosecution of the Hmong has some to do with the three countries they occupy being communist and have a track record of minority persecution. Perhaps the biggest problem is a little known civil war in Laos that has been going on for years, which happens to be fought among where the Hmong live. Hmong being deported back to Laos could face life threatening predicaments if they tried to reach their homeland.
That would be my best educated guess.
any alien is deportable, even if their a refugee, if they've commited a serious crime that makes them deportable. why should the U.S. deal with criminals from other countries, seeing as we have enough american criminals to worry about?
