Will we be able to have Long term Health care living in Germany and not working ?

we are moving to Germany going into early retirement.we were told a few month ago after enquiering that there are arrangements to cover our healthcare with a form E106. On applying for this form we are now told that it expires after jan. 2009 and we will have to sort out new healthcare in Germany. As we will not have been working there we will not qualify for any national care and have to go private which will not be affordable for us.! Has anybody out there some sensible advice. As I am a diabetic our costs could be enormous.

Answer:
i am not necessarily understanding your question. you are saying you are moving to germany - just like that? you do not have to have a permit or anything? maybe you are german - which would entitle you to move to germany, it would subsequently entitle you to health care, i simply don't think you have any sort of a viable plan at hand.
maybe you could elaborate on your question.
if you are not a german no
Why should the Germans pay for your diabetes? If you've never paid them taxes and it sounds like you aren't planning to start, why do they owe you anything?

Maybe you can't afford to retire to Germany, if you can't pay for your own health care.
the german health care system works like this;if you have a job a certain percentage comes out of it straight away to cover your national health insurance(krankenversicherung)... you live on benefits then it will be paid by the social office. however you are only entitled to benefits if you have worked for a certain amount of time in germany. so they will not cover it for you. you never paid anything in so therefore they wont pay out
youre avin a laugh aint ya,ours is the only mug country that gives everything away, especially to those who havent paid in,try poland, probably get a plaster if you are lucky, dont blame you for getting out, wish i could, good luck.ps.so how come millions of eastern europeans can come live here and get free schooling, healthcare, housing and benifits.
"E106" indicates that you already live in a European (EU) country with a public health insurance. In that case you have to ask for "E 121" instead.
