Are you Irish? If you have some Irish heritage as well as Cuban, then you are also Irish. If you don't have Irish heritage, then you obviously are not Irish. That is not a racist comment, though.
Many people like to pretend to be Irish around St. Patrick's Day. Perhaps that's why he didn't believe you?

You're only Irish if you or your ancestors come from Ireland. He's not bashing Cubans, if that's what you meant. Don't sweat it....everyone claims to be Irish at least one day out of the year here in the states. I'm also Mexican on Cinco de Mayo and an African-American for the month of February. I doubt he is showing racism. He just doesn't believe that you can be Irish. It's just that your family has been Cuban for many many generations and you most likely do not look like an Irish person.
