Saturdays LA times came out that our relative pay is much less than that of 20 years ago. It mostly attributed to the China Affect. Last year the bbc wrote an article on the stagnation of Pay in the US, It also attributed to the China affect. THe thing is that the BBC included illegal immigrants as part of the China affect. What jobs can not be exported to China went to illegal immigrants. The top three jobs illegal immigrants take in order is construction, farm labor and janitorial. None of these can be outsourced. Its simple supply and demand. If there are more laborers, the less employers need to pay for their employees.
As for proof beyond a shadow of a doubt, you can't get it. Economist are split in the middle on how does illegal immigrants affect the economy. The positive side stated was that we have a low unemployment rate and with out illegal immigrants, our companies are restricted in growth. Illegal immigrants spend a higher percent of their income (All poor actually spend a higher percent of their income) and so it helps with the growth of our economy. Hispanic small businesses also grow at a high rate as well and improves our economy.
Personal opinion, it helps our national economy, not the individuals. It decreases our salary and help distrupt preexisting small business. The change in demographics is killing african american business because the latino small business has the advantage of economics of size.
edit: TO those who says their are plenty of jobs paying, decent wages, I use to say that, because California is seriously in need of low wage laborers. I stop saying that because, California does not represent the entire country. By listening to everyone on the internet, there are parts of the country suffering from a lack of jobs, even in the low end. PLus what companies do is layoff people who has been working for decades on a job and replacing them with outside contractors (Domestic as well as out of the country). This way, the company can keep the benefits down and also the pay. Illegal immigrants has become an integral part in this corporate gamemenship. Frankly my heart goes out for the elderly that are layed off and is difficult to train for new job skills.
Edit: TO continue Hera's statement. I was mad when the supermarktets replace the Butchers with unskilled meat cutters. THis is partially why the pay of meat cutters went down. If you ask whats the big deal, well people have died of mad cows disease, because of an incompetent butcher did not remove the spinal cord properly. THe sanitation of meat in the supermarket is appaulling, because the meat cutters don't cut the meats in seperate blocks. THe majority of supermarkets have the fish contaminated with red meat.
Not "Native Americans" regular Americans. Any moron knows that wages have increased ever-so-slightly. But that's meaningless with inflation increasing the price of everything else by much more than the wage increase. We have much lower purchasing power than we did before. Housing, gas, and everything else has gone sky high compared to a few years ago. And illegal scab labor worsens the problem.

Like I said in my last answer, anyone who thinks that the deportation of undocumented workers will suddenly make entry level jobs start paying 15.00 an hour is dreaming. There are jobs out there (many of them in my neighborhood) for those who want them. The problem is people want to be paid high wages for bad skills. And to the person who called you names.. you are reported dude, last night you were "Cat" the day before "Litmus" and on and on, keep creating accounts and using racial slurs and I will keep reporting you.
Yes, they do depress wages. Don't believe me? Look at what meat cutters were making in the 1980s..it was right around $19.50 an hour...NOW guess what they are making? LUCKY if it is $9 an hour!
ANY "study" can be made to say anything that the person wants it to say...it is all done with number tricks and nothing else. I am looking at the numbers without any skewing.

Are we offering jobs FIRST to the citizens of this country. We both know that some companies do not. They are cutting corners by giving to others (many undocumented) to save money--either through payroll or benefits. This is not right-no matter how you feel on immigration.
I do know--yes the meat packers were affected. And some Contruction Companies (ie after the huricanes and floodings) Teenagers who use to hold more of the summer jobs on farms were affected. And several other places--so is this fair to them?
But your questions is for Native Americans--so I would say No in stated facts about it--that I know of it. . But than again doesn't every job taken by someone who shouldn't be here legally affect us all in one way or another (even N.A.)? I would think so. Just stands to reason. It would be the same if we took jobs in other countries (which we do). One in-one out. Just my view on that.
