Should a moratorium be placed on immigration?
In order to calm everything down and allow countries to properly manage the assimilation, deportation or whatever of immigrants currently being processed would it be a good idea to impose a moratorium.

Not at all. All criminals (not the PC term illegal aliens, they are felons and nothing more) should be shipped out of the country and shot on sight when they approach the border again.
Legal immigration is a wonderful thing.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of countries with oppressive regimes; thus, people needing to flee the country for a better life.

I do believe that there should be a moratorium on immigration (in to UK) and have said so on several occasions.
The need for immigration is debatable in any case. More to the point there should be a complete ban on immigration from Asia and Africa, perhaps excepting southern Africa where there are many people of British descent.
We are already badly overcrowded. The argument for 'much needed skills' is a fallacy. Have you seen how many Africans and Pakistanis work as security guards? Do we really need to import security guards?
Not to mention that many of them hardly speak English.

In the past, Britain has gained much from immigration; but not now. Numbers are of the essence. It is necessary to kick out all the riff-raff who are here for a free ride or subversion and rationalise the whole process.
Like Tancredo says... We need a TIMEOUT on all IMMIGRATION to the USA. Its out of control..
Subject all new immigrants entering our country at the borders who want to enter legally to the same humiliating physical inspections as does the U.S. military to all of its new patriotic recruits (inductees) including required background check(s). Sign them up for two years in the military or government work project(s), (with out their families) or in special border patrol units to get a feel for what we have to do to put up with all the illegal immigrants.
We need to do this or something like it as part of their processing and while we wait to see if they all check out okay. That way we get something now from them and they get something later from us; like their legal entry into the U.S.
