They give a lot, but it can be very hard to apply and get refugee status. My ex-girlfriend has applied for refugee status from Vietnam. She applied two years ago and has still not been in front of a judge yet. In the meantime, you get a Visa, Medicare, and some help with finding a job and a place to live, but you're basically on your own.
