Can a foreigner apply for a UK student visa in the US?

First, I'm Nigerian.

I'm expanding my options for a second degree, so while I'm considering schools in the US, I'm looking into the UK as well (actually studying in the UK cannot be more appealing at the moment). Can a non-immigrant--an international student, to be precise--residing in the US apply for a UK student visa via the British embassy in America? Or does one have to return to his home country for this? I will be graduating come december, and will work for 7-9 months next year before my planned second degree. Inputs welcome.

Answer:
go to the british embasy site and it will have all the requirements on there for you to read. it even has a walk through Q&A program where it asks you questions on what you want to do and where you are currently at and it will tell you what you need to do. I immigrated to the UK 5 years ago and had to go through the proccess and while I am American I saw plent of non british or american passports being held by people waiting to be seen in there. see link below
