Do you think the children of illegals should share their parents legal status?
This should be outlawed.
Answer:
No, they should not get citizenship! There is nothing in the US constitution about giving citizenship to the childrend of illegal aliens. The 14th amendment did not give citizenship to the children of illegals, but it gave citizenship to former slaves.
Our present policy encourages the violation of immigration laws by automatically granting citizenship to children born to illegal aliens. Families enter the United States illegally for the purpose of giving birth to a U.S. citizen. These anchor babies then serve as the basis for additional immigration of
family members.
Most other countries do not have such a policy. Our system rewards those who are abusing our generous immigration laws.
It is also very costly. The mothers gain access to a multitude of costly medical and social services for their children. These illegal immigrants are then allowed to remain in the country. Most of these illegal aliens are poor, so that they are able to gain welfare, Medicaid, food stamps, and other gifts
from our state and federal government. In effect, the U.S. government is subsidizing "Cheap Labor" for the multinational corporations that have zero loyalty to our country.
I urge you to reform our immigration policy and limit automatic citizenship by supporting HR 133.
HELL NO
Ah, another fabulous way to force your politics into the bedroom.
Hear hear, I agree
Yup they should all go back, or else --like u say--they will keep reproducing like rabbits with a health plan and welfare.
/
They should be classed as illegal still.
Its a sad thing to say, but yes, they should share it.
dang right
i say ship them all back
I agree, I dont think just cuz they happened to get passed the borders illegally that having babies here shouldnt make them legal.. I say send em back!!
most definetly NO
Pertaining to citizenship, the 14th Amendment addressed the status of former slaves and rightfully assured their citizenship. It did not address the children of illegal aliens.
Later a Supreme Court decision upheld the status of a child born of parents legally here when the child was born.
Congress later passed legislation which created the "anchor baby" situation. Those laws need to be repealed or ruled unconstitutional.
If those children are born here, than they are, by rights, Americans and legal. If we stop that because they're parents aren't legal, where would it go from there?
the ones i know pop them out and then go back to mexico but the ones that stay here they shouldnt share nothing its the child that is legal not them. thats just being lazy as hell.
Yes,send them back
If someone hits my car while I'm out on the road without insurance in the state of California, I lose my right to pain and suffering because the law says you must have insurance to operate your vehicle. In other words my car had no business on the road if I was operating it illegally. The same concept should apply with illegally born children. The mothers had no right on this land illegally therefore as a consequence their child should have no right to citizenship here. Our laws need to evolve to prevent future illegal immigration.
Like most of the other people, I say know. This is something that has always bothered me. That is one of the reason so many come over here and spit out a bunch of rugrats. Any child born to an illegal immigrant should be illegal also.
Isn't the rule if you were born on American soil, then you are an American citizen?
My only wish is that the parents that are here illegally learn how to speak our language and assimilate to our society. And that their kids learn English. Easier said than done, I'm sure.
Living here in Texas I see kids that are old enough to walk but they can't even speak English. It really puts a bourdon on our educational system, and teachers when kids can't speak good English, or English at all I think. I think we cater to much to Spanish speaking people. Everything now has Spanish/ English on it, or the ATM ask's if you want to use Spanish/ English, etc.
People should be forced to learn the language the hard way, and they might be better off because out of necessity they would learn to speak it in order to live in our society. I know it’s different, as a most of those people have came here illegally, and are economically challenged. They might not have the resources available to them to help them speak our language. I mean for me if I was going to live in another country that had a different language I could go take a class and learn, and get on the internet and read about their society.
My opinion is that any countries citizens that are so bad off that they have a need to risk their lives to come live a better life here in American should be ashamed as a country. Mexico should be ashamed that it can’t provide enough jobs, or a better life for it’s citizens, for them to want to stay and contribute to their society. They are hard workers and are willing to make better for themselves. If there were more jobs down there, I don’t think that would change. Okay….that’s enough…this is a very hot topic as I now live in Dallas, and have strong opinions in illegal immigrants and what and how to deal with them.
Thanks,
Josh
p.s. I have to agree with dirtyandpissed who answered. We would all be back in Europe somewhere if they sent back our great grandparents kids(our grandparents)
being born on u.s. soil is what makes you an american. its how you as americans became u.s. citizens. its your right. being in the right place at the right time is how america has always worked. your ideas are based as if you always been here and the funny thing is you have, because you were in fact born here. why would you wanna deny anyone else that right. now if you cross over illegally and you are caught by all means do what needs to be done. send them home. my feelings toward that part of immigration are another story. if you were born here, stay here, you are an american citizen and it is your/ their right.
They should be deported with their parents. Enough is enough. Why must we put up with this crap.
The parents don't get citizenship, the children do. It's not the baby's fault that their parents were illegal.
The 14th Amendment have been bastardized to mean something it was never intended to be. A "get in free" pass for the offspring of illegal aliens. It must be either clarified or changed to make its intended meaning, the only interpretation that is applied.
Birthright citizenship is wrong and should have never been applied to the illegal aliens many children. The parents benefit greatly by their child being legal . Get real you know that's the truth.
The 14th Amendment was to give the newly freed slaves citizenship and nothing more . Read the Amendment . It had nothing to do with any other people certainly not the children of criminal aliens.
those babies didn't decide to get themselves "popped" out and become citizens.
and NO. and if their status is "legal" (like you said) wouldn't the child be legal as well. but whoever is born here in the US is a citizen.
