What can there be said about AMERICAN TOLERANCE after all thats happened lately?
Of course I am not american, and please avoid calling me a beaner or a wet back and asking me to go to my stinky country because Im already in it. I am not, have never been and have no inmediate intentions of becomming a resident there. I just wonder how an educated society that rubs words like freedom and liberty in the face of humanity has become an intolerant egocentric society
Answer:
We have had a lot of tolerance over the years but the burden of this overwhelming situation is becoming unbearable. What other country takes care of non citizens the way the US does, what other country rewards lawbreaker's. You are right we are loosing our tolerance but it took our people a long time to get to this point. Our taxpayers deserve a break.
We are overwhelmed as anybody would be when trying to deal with this massive problem. By the way most of us do not use derogatory language when we discuss this problem and should not be blamed for the actions of a few.
We have run out of tolerance. There are way too many illegal immigrants here and we want them out of our country.
How much tolerance are we supposed to have for people that march in our streets demanding rights when they already have more privileges than citizens? They call us stupid and lazy when we don't enforce our laws, and cruel and racist when we do. We can't please or gain the respect of illegals no matter what we do. We need to take care of our own people and stop trying to save the world.
Being overly tolerant is like an invitation to be abused. Having and using common sense is not necessarily being intolerant (we do accept more legal immigrants than all countries combined). How tolerant is your country of illegal immigrants? Or even legal ones?
wait and see the racist haters come out, its not intolerable, its racist. some are intolerable due 2 ignorance, but most are racist, do u not see...dont try to reason with them
American tolerance? I'm glad you asked. We have tolerance like no other country on earth, but it finally reached the breaking point.
This didn't happen over night but has built up over years and years of illegal immigration with no end in sight.
Oh, boo-hoo! Cry me a river, then!
Here's the fact: 20 million people have ILLEGALLY come into MY country, and want to pretend that they have equal rights. They do not; they are criminals.
I don't have to TOLERATE crime, and I will not. As for the rest of your snide remarks, if you don't like it, don't bother coming to America yourself.

Update from the fat guy: The answer is no; we're not intolerant, in my estimation, unless you're talking about criminals, and the fact that about 18 million illegals have sneaked into my country since 1986, sapped social services such as police, fire, healthcare and education is not something I feel I should simply say, "ah well, this has been going on for ages." It's over.
A thumbs up or down merely expresses agreement or disagreement with the answer. Pro-illegal answers get thumbed down so much because so many people disagree with those ideas.
Racism is, BTW, just a specific form of intollerance. Expressing disagreement is not intollerance.
Anyway, by way of contrast, around 150,000 Americans are in another country where they are not welcome. They are attacked daily with suicide bombs, IEDs and ambushes, even though they are supposedly there to help protect and re-build the country.
Currently, around a thousand times that many foreigners are illegally occupying America. None that I've heard of have been suicide-bombed.
This is very simple
Legal Immigrants are welcome and always welcomed in the United States of America
Illegal Immigrants are not welcomed. Obey the Laws
The sheer quantity of illegals has overwhelmed the socio-economic resources in the border states. Yes we believe in freedoms and rights...for those who are citizens and those who came here legally. We're going to take care of our own people for a change, and that is long overdue. These people do NOT belong here, and it's time to begin sending them back to their countries of origin. You can sit on the outside looking in all you want to and judge as you will. Until you've seen the problems firsthand, you really don't know what you are talking about.
Edit: Yes, I'm quite intolerant about having criminals running free in my Country.
I think you make some very good points. There really is no excuse for name calling or some of the other tactics used in some of these answers, from either side of the debate.
What you need to understand though, is that as Americans we are fed up. Our tolerance has been exhausted. It's no different than telling your child every day not to do something and then having them do it again. Patience runs thin.
Think about it, let's say you are an only child and your parents take in a child whose parents just died. Would it be fair to you if your parents gave that child your dinner and your educational financing, etc. just because that child had to suffer the loss of his parents?
It's the same concept. That's why we've lost our patience.
You are absolutely correct. I have no tolerance what so ever of people who break the law. Is that a bad thing?
I wont' tolerate anybody who breaks our laws.
1. Please name me One Country that is tolerant of those who are Illegally in Their Country, and breaking Their Laws!
2. Human Dignity or Rights? Please Name Three Countries that Supply Medical, Educational, Social Services, etc. to People who Illegally Entered Their Countries.
3. In what Country are You a Legal Citizen. I would appreciate the chance to compare the Tolerance of Your Country Against My Country!!
4. I wonder what your People think about you calling Your Own Country ( Stinky ).
5.After You have supplied the answers to the questions presented, then We can Judge Your Right to Judge Us!
Americans are very tolerant. Being tolerant doesn't mean we have to take everything people dish out just because they're in America.
Freedom doesn't mean everyone has the right to do what they darned well please inspite of the laws. It's a fine balance to maintain and the scales have tipped. It's a give and take of rights, respect and responsibility.
We aren't a global job fair. We aren't a dumping ground for the poor of other countries when their own countries aren't doing anything about it. We aren't responsible for fixing the ills of the world and footing the bill to do so. We don't have the total answer and we have our own problems to tend too. Do not confuse the American people with the government. Do not think we all live like they do on TV or that we all live the life of the rich and famous. We're a country of people just putting one foot in front of the other like so many others in the world. We just know we give and give and tolerate difference to the point where we're tired of bending over and taking it simply because we're Americans. We were nice and now now we're all evil jerks because we can't just fix everyones problems or allow whoever wants to come here and take what they want and disobey our laws and disrespect this country simply because they want it and hate us because we do.
Tolerance isn't free reign to be used and abused by people. There's a limit and we've been more than generous.
sensationalism. stir up the masses emotions with some assertions, echo it throughout all the trusted media, reward those who repeat others' words as if they were their own (the dupped, dumb,...) with a sense of collectivism & belonging. once its gained its own momentum the fabricated affirmations emerge to make it solid. this is called 'the preasure from below', the will of 'the people' shall become law. theres no problem with mexicans, never has been. if anything, theres a problem with the mismanagement of personel. 'wah, they take our social services'. well, we are the usa. no socialism, thats one of the main reasons we broke off from the english, spanish & french. demand the government stop taxing you, thatll dry up the socialism. what else, the jobs? ...please. reminds me of the superstar that hates the attention of the fans. i live in austin, texas. theres no aspect of my life that doesnt have a mexican touch & i like it that way. this bit about mexico being a dirty, uneducated & backward place, go there. dont just go to the borders, go to the interior, its an incredible place. its as developed as anywhere here. sht, you have a computer, do some research.
I agree with everyone else our tolerance is done, we have had enough how would you feel if millions of Americans went to Mexico and took all your jobs and stayed their illegally? also the once who really have the most right to complain is the Native Americas they have less rights than Mexicans and this is their country over all of us,look ;how they been treated over the years, I personally want my grandchildren to have a country to live in and if we allow all these illegals in where will there be jobs, homes for mine and my family goes back to Lewis & Clark experdising/ and the 6 nations of NY.
I for one am guilty of being a bit intolerant with some here and other places concerning this subject. My patience just seem to run out after a point. This to me is far bigger then just about amnisty or rewarding illegal alians legalization just because they are already here. So many of us have bombarded our reps and the white house telling them how much we are against this bill they were trying to ram down our throats and as of yesterday we won! But I was very dissapointed by the president and especially Trent Lott for saying that we were hood winked by conervative talk radio into following the whims of people like Rush Limbaugh and Shawn Hanity. Impling that we don't think for our selves and voiced our own oppinions based on research we have done. And Mr. Lott saying that government needs to "deal" with talk radio. Smells of socilaism talk to me. Very disapointing to say the least. I will not stay being a republican after those remarks I am re-registering as an independant. Now Rush opens his program by saying something like "greeting from the harmless little fuzz ball who ties half his brain behind his back just to be fair while I run this country" lol
I think one thing that can be said is that, Americans are sick of their government trying to decide issues such as Immigration Reform without listening to the people that voted them into office. Only after talk radio and certain TV programs such as Lou Dobbs made many Americans more aware of the problem did Americans wake up and take action.
Sir , I think you will find that any negative comments from the good American Taxpayers toward any of your Illegal friends that sneak into our country and steal identities , forge documents ,etc etc. are in a direct response to your Illegal friends and their arrogant , smart *** attitude criticizing us because we are tired of paying for someone Else's` free ride !! It is not the responsibility of the Real Legal Taxpaying American Citizens` to support 20 million people that their own country can`t support nor take care of !! How many ILLEGALS would still come to The USA if there were no Freebies ? What would be the point for an ILLEGAL to sneak into our country and lie , steal , and cheat with false documentation , fraudulent SS Cards , and who knows how many of your ILLEGAL friends are not using one of our deceased family members ID ? If you want the definition of Freedom , Liberty , Intolerant , or LEGAL & ILLEGAL , then I suggest you get an American ENGLISH language Dictionary and check , because evidently they don`t mean the same thing in your Spanish Dictionary !! Putting up with this insanity of allowing ILLEGALS into this country for 21 years is not what we American Taxpaying Citizens call "Being Intolerant".
My tolerence ran out when we were saturated with demands from people who think nothing of demanding rights to things that are not theirs to have and take, they burned or flew my flag upside down or under their own.My patience thins when I go to work every night and have to treat patients who drank too much , crapped themselves and then think nothig of trying to grope us or fight withus,my patience is up when I have to press one for English and I go to a store and they ask why I do not speak spanish, I am sick of my town park being overrun by thousands of hispanics that travel hundreds of miles just to come to our park because they can drink and BBQ and leave their garbage for us to clean up.SHould I continue.....
You're confusing "intolerance" with "practicality." For starters, our nation is at war and to allow an illegal migration threatens our way of life. Not knowing who is entering our country also puts us, and our children, at risk. Can you say with any certainty that these illegals are NOT rapists, drug lords, thieves or murderers and that they do not carry a communicable disease? If an immigrant has nothing to fear and wants his "rights" and his "dignity", he'll come in through the front door and not sneak in the back.
I think word you are looking for is lenient. We've been far too lenient with people in our dealings and now we're paying the price. We shouldn't have tried to help the whole world, they hate us for it. Complete ingratitude -- the buck needs to stop here.
We need to be a whole lot less tolerant of the injustices that are occurring right under our noses and step away from your countries troubles, as well as, every other country. Its called taking care of numero uno first. Good luck, swim or sink, its on you all now.
And do your job, without pay? hahahahaha
