Does the INS(Immigration and Naturalization Service) inspect the house of a married couple?

I hear rumors that they check upon people's houses as random as 11:00 p.m. at night to see if a couple is living together, and that if denied entry into the house they deny the application for citizenship that one of the spouses is trying to acquire.

Is this true, a myth, or an old practice that isn't done anymore?

Answer:
It depends on the couple, they never came to my house or my sister..who married my husbands' younger brother, but I had some frinds at work who did get paid a few visits.

It wasn't at 11 at night, but it was in the evening after dinner. And they had another early morning visit. I work at Disney World and there are some International cast members at Epcot looking to get married and stay here. So that could be why they were checked up on.

I have several friends who have married middle eastern men who have never been bothered by INS.
Sometimes. If they suspect it is a fraudulent marriage they will come to your house. For example a large age difference. If everything sounds alright to them they probably won't
ICE formally known as INS is suppose to do random checks of suspected fraud, example if a US born marries a person that is not a US citizen than that person is flagged and might receive a visit late at night from ICE.
