Because, unfortunately, no one is forcing them to. Mexicans think we should cater to their every need and demand. I own a used car lot in Texas where we have lots of Mexican customers. They literally get mad, I mean down right furious, when I can't understand Spanish. It beats all I've ever seen. They're nervy as heck.
Because we americans do not demand it.
Unfortunately, the US does not have an 'official' language.
Because the media is full of socialist/globalists and they seek to drastically changes this country into Marxist paradise.

It wasn't long ago that German lost by one vote as being our national language as most people didn't speak English!

if it bothers you that much,become rich and live in the white only neighborhoods where a large number of the residents do speak english.
Because according to them, they are above normal people and the laws don't apply to them. Just like according to them, they are the only ones on the road, or they have more of a right to be on an aisle at the grocery store or complain about rights that weren't meant for them. Typical mentality of an illegal immigrant.
I don't mind if people speak their native tongue in public however, I do believe that all official tests (drivers licsence..etc.) and documents should be printed in English only.
I agree they should learn to speak English, especially when dealing with any government entity. We are an English speaking country after all. At the same time, you have to face the reality of the situation. They don't understand English and you don't understand Spanish. Deal with it.
As for paying takes. If they have an actual job in the US (rather than something under the table), they are paying taxes. Even if they are using an invalid/stolen social security number, they are having federal and state taxes withheld from their paychecks - as well as social security. So even though they probably don't file a tax return, they are paying taxes. Plus they are paying sales tax, and gas tax, and all those others.
I agree. I would like to see the illegal immigrants in this country relocate to left-leaning democratic states like Vermont, Massachusetts, etc. Really...go there. They welcome illegals with open arms.

I have never understand how we got to the point of letting all the minority groups control the majority. How in the world did that happen. We have to adjust to whatever the needs of the minorities. They don't have to adjust to anything.
because a lot of immigrants (of any race / colour) don't learn the language of the country they move to. this occurs all over the world including europe. i am in the uk and a lot of people don't bother to learn english

It's this politically correct BS this country has bought into. If you say something then you're prejudice. If you remember, that use to be how the INS would target illegals. If they went to a company and a Mexican could not speak English they would check them out. And they did that alot!
If they want to get a good job, they will usually want to learn English. If they don't they will be trapped in lower-paying jobs. And the kids pretty much all do learn English. Perhaps you don't realize how difficult it is as an adult to learn a new language. And how do we "force" people to learn a language? Should we round people up on the streets and chain them to their desks in English class? And you are not forced to learn to speak the native language if you live in Europe, only if you want to become a citizen, same as here.

Somebody's a little self conscious...lol! True, they need to learn English to communicate and get by. But it's not a crime in the U.S. to speak your native tongue-whatever it is-with your friends or family. LOL!
I do not mind people talking in other languages but what I do mind is our jobs,food stamps,well fair,medicare,Medicaid,and other United States benefits going to people who are here illegally.Slowly they are taking what we have worked so hard to get.I am not just talking about Hispanics.If they work here in the US they should learn to English Language.
Your question is very ignorant and some may say racist. Just because someone is speaking spanish doesn't mean they're mexican. They could be Puerto Rican, Dominican, Colombian, or from another country that is spanish speaking. Also, just because you are surrounded by people who aren't speaking english doesn't necessarily mean they don't know english. Ever heard of a word called, bi-lingual? I think those who want to become US citizen should learn to speak english. But don't judge anyone because YOU can't understand them. They're probably laughing at you because they understand everything you say and in turn YOU'RE the one making a fool out of yourself. America is a great country because it's a melting pot full of different cultures and languages. If you can't appreciate that, maybe you should move someplace else.
i have a few things to say about aliens...personally i think that bush is to blame...first off...he asked congress to pay for a nice long fence to keep the mexicans out of our country...how about we use some more poor tax payers money to electrify the stupid fence...second...we have jobs that most people dont want to do...that only make them want in more if they know there is open jobs everywhere...and rollo tom...hi...um...yeah anywhere else you move they make you sign a contract that you will attempt to learn their language...i have a friend who moved to austria and he has to learn german...they need the english language in this country just in case...i could care less if speak it all the time... thats all i have to say about that lol
I agree..It's getting out of hand .I feel like i'm living in some damn third world country.Everywhere i go anymore all i see are illegals speaking Spanish instead of English and expecting us to learn their language.
I can't count how many times I've told them to speak English if they want to live here.. and all they do is laugh..
And why should i have to even select English at an atm or on the phone..I am in America and English is the language here last time i checked..
I am not Hispanic, but I have Hispanic friends and coworkers so I know a little bit about the situation. I am not an expert, though
1) Most of them are low skilled. Many of them didn't gradutate from high school in their own country, since they are low skilled, they don't earn much money.
2) Since they don't earn much money (and many of them) have family( wife and kids) they have to send their money to their country, that's why
3) They have to work long hours every week in order to be able to send the money and to get by.
4) that's why they don't have time to learn English or go to school.
or they are too tired to go take evening class, since what they do usually physical jobs(that require a lot of lifting, walking,)
5) Sorry, no offense. I read it in many articles that historically, Hispanics in general are not that kind of people who like to go to school. Unfortunatelly, I forgot where I found the articles. The articles showed how many percentage of different races, different generations( Asians, African American, Native Americans, White) dropped out of high schools I think one of
those articles was in www.heritage.org.
I It is very important to know the reason(s) why somebody does something. for example if somebody killed somebody else as selfdefense he certainly will get less punishment than that who killed to take the victim's money away.
With that said,If you think you are better educated, I think you should be grateful or try to be nice and help them. That's a lot better than to hate them.
