Should corporations be fined for hiring illegals?
Should we raid companies more often (than nearly nil which is what we do now), find out how many illegals they have and then bill the company for the money they are costing the public sector?
Answer:
Sounds like a good idea, but you can't do that unless you try and legalize a percentage of the workforce already here. Because i don't care how much you guys kick and scream, i know there are not enough American workers to fill those jobs (mostly because of the way the economy is already set up with the immigrant workforce)
If they're doing it intentionally they should be shut down.
short answer...yes!
long answer...hell yes!!!!!
Raiding is the dumbest idea ever. Whoever thought of this inhumane way of finding undocumented workers must not have a conscience.
Not just corporations. Employers.
Mandatory jail time, lose the right to operate and the business sold to help deportations. That's my solution.
Absolutely!
Yes, of course.
They should be given HUGE fines to stop this practice.
Employees should be asked for a photo id and birth certificate or passport to prove they're a citizen.
Yes,yes and yes again. If they weren't hiring them then the flow of them into our country would cease -and there would be no need of all these unworkable and expensive bills.
- true the well to do may have to mow their own lawns and take care of their own children but that is too sad for words.
No, the corporation can't check on every one of it's employees to see if they are legal. Illegal immigrants forge documents, committ identity theft, and do other things to work.
They ARE fined and quite heavily.
REALLY BIG FINES - and jail. That will dry up the jobs quick! And if there are no jobs that means the illegal have to go back where they belong!
BTW, that is the CURRENT law but Bush and his Washington weasels just complain that we need the Senate's pile of crap bill and that the 1986 amnesty law doesn't work.
Hey all you weasels, enforce the laws and see how the problems can be solved!
They all should be heavily fined for each work and every day that that worker is in their employ. Maybe they would get the message that way.. Bunch of scum bags.
I agree with CRK and Micky. Forget the fines, they're saving money on illegals. They'll work the fines into their budget. Greedy SOB's who only care about getting theirs at the expense of our laws need stiffer penalties.
absolutely -- not just corporations but any employer who has multiple illegals working 'off the books' should face a fine of $5000 as a minimum. the only exception should be a one time warning as a safeguard for those employers who were unaware of the actual status of an employee.
They should be fined and reviewed monthly for any violations for an undisclosed period of time. The checks should be random, so no one knows when they will be check. The fines should be $10,000 a head for the first offense, $25,000 a head for the second offense, $50,000 a head for the third offense and a two year prison term for who ever does the hiring. If they go for four, the company should be shut down.
you damn right they should fine them. The corporations found guilty of hiring illegal workers should also be under Federal scrutiny in the future. They should also be required to help pay for public service work as it relates to eliminating illegal aliens from this country.
Any company using illegal immigrants should be fined!
The laws clearly state that hiring, aiding and encouraging an illegal alien to secure and obtain employment is a federal felony and it certainly must be enforced. The fines need to levied with no exception. And incarceration too of the repeat offending companies owners.
There nothing inhumane about going where a criminal works or lives and arresting them.I cant see where there's anything wrong with the raids at all. In fact there should be even more .When any one is arrested for a crime there family's are left on their own . Why do illegal aliens expect to be treated any better that legal criminals. A criminal is a criminal.
Arrest and deport
No Scamnesty
one word: YES!
Actually, many pay on fake documents.
Absolutely if they 'should have known' they should be fined. If they DID know, they should be jailed.
Why don't they treat immigration law like environmental law? For a long time people complained that since industry kept asking for non enforcement of the laws, they didn't get enforced. Then they put in citizen suit provisions so citizens could require enforcement, and added jail terms for managers who knowingly violated laws. They are barely starting this, but there is huge damage from illegal immigration. While those coming illegally are obviously to blame, it shouldn't be so easy for them once here, on the job OR benefit side.
However, did you notice they voted DOWN a requirement that 'temporary workers' have health insurance (and high deductible insurance at that) from their employers? So WHO do they expect to cover their health care? Taxpayers. And I think at MINIMUM there should be impact fees to local schools like developers have to pay.
This is a real infrastructure and overpopulation problem, and the feds don't care because they are state impacts. However, the people who vote for the feds live in those states.
That was in the last Immigration reform bill passed in 1986. Since there has been virtually no enforcement of that law, which is the same by the way, what makes you actually believe it will be enforced now? Between the present administration and the Congress we seem unable to do anything right except waste money. We selectively in force laws, didn't you know that?We lock up Border Agents for doing their jobs and give immunity to drug dealers.Remember Katrina?Homeland Security is a oxymoron in this country
I believe if the feds can take my property and money if i gain it from a criminal act, then all things of value from illegas and those that hire them should be also forfeit. I bet that would drive the illegals home real fast.
Absolutely, and big time.
YES
