If you know anything about the workings of the public school systems in most states, you know the reason they're generally such a crap fest is because of a combination of laws that keep the school districts from firing sub-standard teachers and school boards that implement programs because they think it's a cool idea rather than because of any solid evidence that they work. Add to that, ignorant but educated and powerful parents who want the schools to follow their private agendas, along with educational mandates that are unfunded, and you get the mess that is our public school system.
There is no conspiracy. We're doing a great job of torpedoing our educational system all by ourselves.
