I've heard the same crappy thing. If that is the truth, that's a bunch of crap. I hope at the least they're insured, which I think we all know, that probably won't be the case.
It depends on what state you are in. I've lived in California and Arizona and both these states require you to have a valid social security number.

many do not have licenses, those that do, usually get them due to counterfeit or forged documents...and a few states still do allow them to get licenses legally...although I cant remember which ones at this moment...
In most states it is required to have two forms of identification. If they do not have a social security card or their green card with immigration information, they cannot legally get a license. However, as was stated, they do get fake social security cards. It happens every single day.

no, an illegal has to show proof that they are a legal citizen of the u.s to get a drivers license. as a result they drive illegally too...no license, no insurance. really they are here illegally whats to stop them. the problem is so many of them have fake id's and fake names its hard to tell who is who. you can go on the internet and for about 100 bucks get a fake drivers license that looks almost like the real ones. it tricks some law enforcement but most are trained to spot them. (i have a family member in the sheriff's department)
the problem is most ppl don't think illegals here are a problem but i will tell you to ask my neighbor who is raising three young children alone and paying off the medicals bills from her husbands death. he was hit by an illegal from mexico, uninsured, unlicensed and drunk. the guy had been arrested twice before and he fled the scene and disappeared because he knew he was in big trouble this time after the guy died. they got his license plate number and traced it to him but he was gone and it showed he owned the vehicle but no license or insurance. she not only gets to live with the loss of her husband, the raising of the kids but also the medical bills from the emergency room where they tried to save her hubby.
Why get a drivers license number when you are illegal? Down here I have heard of people being side swiped by a car and they just take off. And, that happened to my sister. She has to pay more coverage for her automobile because of the irresponsible people down here who weigh down other people with their burden. From TX of course.

They can just use someone else's Social Security number. It happens all the time. The DMV is one of the most incompetent departments in government....
I hate those. I got into an accident once with one. he hit my car and all he did was give me his insurance card number and told me he was in a hurry, that he had this important job he had to do. he left and i reported him to the police. i was smart enough to take down his license plate number. But to my dam luck they never got him. and he gave me someone elses insurance card. what an idiot!! It Looked like he worked for a landscaping company, but they never got this fellow. OH MY GOSH IM STILL MAD. But they do make Fake Social Security Cards, I see them when they come in to apply for jobs. and honestly its true. i dont know how the heck they get these valid social cards. i guess the steel them. These are the people that make others look bad!! arrgg!>:<
They can't .The dmv needs a social security number and trust me they will make sure the information is correct!

yes, it is possible, and yes, has to have insurance and pay taxes and have a job in the state, nothing different to the othe people, and illegal immigrants are not the only ones with fake papers, my neighbord has like 3 ID's and different social securitys to buy houses, and guess what? he is blue eyed american, thats all I have to say.
